Uber, the company that offers a smartphone app for summoning cars for rides, has been under intense scrutiny since an Uber driver struck and killed a 6-year-old girl while he was between fares — raising questions about when Uber is responsible for an accident. Now the company says it is buying more insurance for its drivers.
