Apple Event 2023: Get ready for the ‘Scary fast’ showcase on October 30

Apple’s next event is set for October 30, with the Cupertino company set to reveal something it deems as “scary fast”.

What these products might be isn’t massively clear, as Apple tends to keep the details of its upcoming showcases close to its corporate chest. But as we had the launch of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as well as the Apple Watch 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, at the Apple September event, this upcoming event is likely to be Mac and iPad centric.

We are expecting to potentially see the Apple M3 chip and a suite of Mac machines sporting it. These could include a MacBook Air with the M3, a new iMac and maybe new MacBook Pro machines with new chips, even though we got the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro with uprated M2 chips earlier this year.

There could also be new iPads, potentially seeing an iPad mini 7 and next-generation iPad Air with respective specs boosts; we’re not forcasting any radical design changes.

Furthermore, as Apple appears to push more into gaming, especially with the capabilities of the A17 Pro chip, we’d not be surprised if gaming is touted at this October event as well as new Macs and iPads.

So read on for our thoughts on when the next Apple event could be and what we may see,

When is the next Apple event or product reveal?

  • October 30, 2023
  • Expect to see new Macs and the M3 chip, and potentially some refreshed iPads

As mentioned earlier, the next Apple event is set for October 30. Rather than host an in-person event, this one will be live streamed and has been given the strapline of “Scary fast”.

From that we can posit we’ll see the launch of the Apple M3 chip, along with accompanying Mac machines that sport the new silicon. These could comprise a new MacBook Air, new iMacs, and potentially refreshed MacBook Pros; the latter could include new 14-inch and 16-inch Pro models with uprated M3 chips, and/or a reworked 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 silicon.

And as the iPad Air hasn’t been refreshed to the latest M2 chips, it would be a likely candidate for a rejig, potentially jumping straight to an M3. The iPad mini is arguably due a spec bump, but as the appetite for smaller Apple devices isn’t exactly veracious (note how the iPhone 13 mini has been retired) perhaps the smallest iPad could be left to wither on the product vine.
