Instagram is rolling out updates to Reels, including longer video lengths

Instagram Reels is doubling the length of videos in a new update, allowing users to make 30-second videos instead of 15 seconds.

Reels’ biggest competitor, TikTok, lets people record videos up to a minute in length. Instagram is also extending the timer from three to 10 seconds, and people will also be able to trim and delete any clip in an attempt to make the editing process smoother.

Although Instagram hasn’t said much about how many people are using Reels, it’s an area where the company seems pretty invested. Instagram is going “big with entertainment,” the company’s product director, Robby Stein, told The Verge when Reels launched.
