DJI’s $39 mic adapter for the Osmo Pocket is here to save your vlog’s audio

DJI has finally released a 3.5mm microphone adapter for the Osmo Pocket, its handheld vlogging camera that was released back in December, reports Drone DJI. The $39 adapter plugs into the camera’s USB Type-C port, and it will reportedly work with microphones from Rode, Audio-Technica, and Sennheiser.

The Osmo Pocket’s internal microphone doesn’t sound terrible, but in my time with the camera, it seems to be the weakest part of the device, especially when compared with the video footage produced by its three-axis stabilized camera. Sound quality might not matter when you’re working with a rugged action camera — like the GoPro Hero 7 — that’s designed for filming extreme sports, but DJI’s camera is more at home while vlogging, a situation…
